Hi, I have just bought a 6 month old cob foal. He was taken away from his mother far to early at the age of 3 months. He is doing well, however is very underweight and is not getting all the nutritional goodness that he needs. Does anyone have any advise on what I can use to help him. I.e feeds, supplments.
He is struggling to eat chunky feeds such as apples, carrots and barely rings. I am trying to do my best by this little man and any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

I have no experience of feeding such a baby but would recommend contacting a feed company and speaking to a nutitionist. Poor little lad; hope he does well

i have no experience about this, above suggestions re vet and nutritionist sounds good. if it was me i dont think i would bother with hard feeds and stuff, now the good grass is coming through i would let him at that and if he needs brought in plenty of hay/haylage, and some salt (salt lick). a health check by the vet would do no harm. good luck

A lot of feed companies have free advice on their website and help lines you can call. They sometimes have days when they send reps to big feed merchants so you can talk face to face. I woul imagine if you have a good relationship with your vet then they could do the same. (just noticed this is pretty much the advices everyone else has given, great minds and all that) Oh and don't forget we need some photos
