Hello all - hope you are well, Haven't been on here for a long time and to come back to ask a question may be viewed as the most dire cheek but I will anyway. ;D Have any of you used a leather girth with an elastic insert at one end? I have a good reason for asking

Yes, briefly BB. It was a super posh one but it rubbed terribly so didn't keep it.

Thank you very helpful.
I was using one - in fact I have always used one on all the horses I have had over the years but a fitter said to me on Saturday to stop using it, not because it rubs but because the elastic creates a misbalance? ...so I bought a Dever non leather one with no elastic.
Haffy, my dressage girth has no elastic on it, I will check the make today and let you know. It is a funny design has a strap sewn onto the girth which is itself quite thick and solid. Doesn't seem to detract from its purpose but no idea what the strap is for.
Thanks everyone.

haffy the wintec dressage girths have no elastic inserts but have stretch across the whole girth, my instructor really rates them and I use one on my dressage saddle and it is good

It is so difficult to find a non elasticated girth these days! I was very lucky to Find mine on ebay. Full leather virtually brand new no elastic for bout £10! Bargin of the sentry. My saddlr even loves it as its so padded.

BB i didn't say anything earlier as wasn't sure what you were getting at but thats why i don't like them as always suspected that wwould be the case plus they get over tightened. Fi I have some wintecs, bought in exasperation as nothing else available at time as my neoprene ones were knackered but don't like them/use them anymore - Finally found replacement neoprene ones from this place if link works. These are the best style of girths i've ver come across i have to say...I really wouldn't use anything else now.

I dont mind the ones that have elastic at both sides but hate the one sided ones. Those neoprene ones in the link are great if your horse is prone to rubs but I find the buckles bulky and catch my legs.
