I'm so pleased with boys today, I just had to tell someone.
We have just had a really lovely hack despite meeting just about every obsticle possible. They were both full of beans as I have only managed to ride (school) once this week and that always unnerves me when OH is riding as he's still very novicey. As soon as we set off the sprinklers were on and coming over onto lane but Harry took charge and trotted on through during a rotation and we stayed dry and calm. The army were shooting on the common but fortunatly breaked just as we got to top of lane so we crossed fine.....their was also rally cars tearing around on the main path around the common edge that we could hear but not see but they didn't bat an eyelid. I nearly fell off when Murph baulked, shot forward and did a head stand almost at a scary log as we took a short cut (for safety reasons because of rallying) into the woods proper. Fortunatly just as I was on his neck at that point of no return he shot his head back up and I managed to get back into the saddle ;D
All was quiet until we came to come back out of woods onto common again at a different point and found the army camped there with tents up, mini buses and baggage everywhere (including a stretcher with dummy on ) not to mention the big guns they were all holding! We stopped and looked, crept forward, stopped and looked again then Harry once again took charge and realising there was no way round, only through and calmly proceeded through the centre of it...in fact he almost stood on the stretchered dummy....I was so proud of him (well both) as Harry is usually the spookier of the two. And all this with OH on board too hence even more of an achievement! After that the sprinklers on the way back were nothing and we timed it to perfection - abeit helped along by the sight of home this time
