Racaille is now officially retiring from the ODE circuit! He's a great fun pony (that in itself is a bit of a miracle after his stroppiness aged five) but it's no use pretending his talents lie in complet.
The teenager took him to the big competition club on Sunday and he just fooled around. He can do a very nice dressage test if he wants but he didn't want. He was, as always, fearless in the XC, and not too bad in the SJ but he's not right for the whole competition. So that's his last one.
He seems to love the XJ as he can really let off steam so we'll look around for more of that for him.

what about hunting - i think this would suit the teenager and racaille down to the ground!! ;D failing that some hunter trials or team chasing, gate jumping comps etc

A lot of horses just don't suit competition and I congratulate you for accepting that as so many people don't and put themselves and their horses to years of torture (of course it must be really fraurstrating if you are competition mad and your talented horses hates it). Hunting sounds a good option if he doesn't get too excited and competitive with other horses - is he still in the club or is he home with you? (Sorry I did miss a lot of posts at one stage).

Duckles, he's at the club on an 'au pair' basis and is thriving. He needs to be worked regularly - and have things to do and look at otherwise he searches out mischief! - and he is now in a routine that seems to suit him very well. He is only ridden by competent riders as he is no novice ride but equally once the riders want to start doing big jumps they expect to be on a horse so he is never overfaced. But he does like a blast and something to think about, which is why we will have to search out stuff for him just to break the routine from time to time. Unfortunately, hunter trials like you lot have don't exist down here. We're thinking he would also excel at pony games.
