Well quick recap from my confidence crisis last Tuesday, rode Thursday and Friday morning, much better and feeling back to normal again - phew.
So Saturday C & I headed out with Ed and Matilda. Took them up to a track where we can have a nice long canter. Matilda went in front, set off, Eddie was not happy being behind! She dived forwards - Matilda kicked out so Eddie jumped sideways down a bank - I cacked myself expecting to come off but surprisingly it was quite a smooth decent and I stayed balanced. Managed to pull up and found myself laughing (which was a blessed relief) though in a puzzle how we'd get back up the bank (which was now higher than where we'd come down). Decided we'd just have to scramble up so kicked on and Eddie bounced up easy peasy - think the pony may have a carerer hunting!. Once up, Ed was off again. There was no stopping so I just decided I could only let her run it out (we were on a nice long track, no roads nearby), checked over my shoulder that C was OK and waited til I felt Eddie drop down a gear then managed to pull her up. But all the way home Eddie was jogging, cantering on the spot, extremely wound up. She seemed to have no regard for traffic once back on the road and it was becoming very uncomfortable. I had blisters on my fingers - dammit forgot my gloves - and a very sweaty wound up pony. Finally made it home unscathed but relieved to be back. But on the positive side, I wasn't nervous at all, just frustrated I couldn't get her to walk!!
Went out again yesterday and different pony. On her toes a little but enjoyed 2 hours with barely any jogging, 3 nice in control (just, bouncy bouncy!!) canters and had a pleasent time.
Spring is definately in the air.
