Rode Barney out yesterday with three of the newer liveries. I haven't ridden with them before one is an ex polo mare very much retired a nutty warm blood and a retired racing thoroughbred who is only eight. Started off fine walking along at a relaxed pace. Then in the woods, polo pony's rider wanted to canter, I thought we were all going to go and set off at a sedate pace. Looked around and only polo pony was with me so pulled up. Turns out TB was doing airs above the ground so she didn't want to canter. That was fine. We plodded about in the woods. On the way back, warm blood's rider want ed a canter as did polo pony, so off we went again Polo first then me then warm blood. well Barney thought is was a race as polo pony really went for it(I thought she had arthritis!) and it was all I could do to keep him back and stop him! Thoroughbred hadn't come with us eek! An dd was about 500 yards behind. I felt really sorry for her as the other two said she will moan now for getting left behind, poor woman, I think she did well managing to hold him back! So today I went out with the lady I usually go with when H is loved up! We had a lovely gentle canter in the woods a couple of nice purposeful trots and a lovely relaxing time. Think Barney can have tomorrow off! It's a shame H and I can't ride together I really miss her as a riding buddy, she is not riding much at all as a result of Pete being off. Roll, on Mr P being well again.
