I posted a few weeks ago that me and Fire have been wanting some equine company out hacking. During the Summer a lady who comes in where I work gave me her phone number and said she'd come hacking with us.
But I lost it... then a couple of weeks ago found it! So I sent her a text and she said she'd love too I got a route planned and waited for Sunday, knowing Fire would very likely be very disspaointed with his date. Not the Fleabitten arab mare of his dreams but a coloured cob x gelding similar to Trav!
Well we had a lovely time! Fire was very suspicious and kept a distance behind to start with but they were brilliant. Fire even went on the inside when we rode past the pigs. He gave a lead to the other horse past a generator too. We got out on the road for a little way then turned right and had a wonderful trot up a grassy hill. They trotted side by side perfectly despite Fire being 2hands smaller. We stopped at the pub and tied them up for lunch and Fire was making up to him! He was being really kind The lady's husband had met us there with a haynet and they were sharing it It was very adorable. I think Fire was shocked that he had met a horse who looked like Trav, who was acutally kind to him!!
After we were back on board, we headed for the ford we needed to cross to get home. Fire splashed straight in, well the other ladies horse wasn't having any of it. He'd done the cob thing and planted himself. We went back across to again to try and give him a lead, she tried reinbacking to get him in etc So I took Fire back through it and went and hid around the corner, but nope he just stood there. We agreed to take them back the way we came (she'd been trying to get him in for 15 mins) So I took Fire back through again and as we got nearly to the other side he put his head out towards Fire and took a step in. Poor Fire was a bit fed up by now but turned around again and gave him a lead through.
We had a great trot a long some grassy tracks home, although Fire was a bit peed by this point and def. wanted to lead. We had a great time though I think Fire loved having some company and he was so much more focused. When we go out with oh he normally just wants to eat grass Even better in the evening when we got back she sent us a text saying what a lovely time they had and that we should do it again.
Home made apple crumble and cream for all who made it this far.
