There's the first TREC of 2012 on January 29 down near the coast. Although I'm not sure yet if they are doing the POR or whether it's just a training day over the PTV and COP.
I'm thinking about it ........

I think you should go! If Paco is up for it then there's no reason not to . Besides, even if it is just a training day it would still be worth going because you could use that as a practice for the 'real' TRECs that follow. Go on, you know you want to .

I know, it's silly, isn't it? I think my reluctance is because it is quite a long way away and the thought of loading Paco in the dark just makes me quail.
However, I am mustering my courage ...... ;D

You're quite right Fi. Now I just have to enter the thing. It's slightly complicated as I want to do it with the teenager on Racaille (since I am on my own ALL the time) but we have to find a formula for us. Either we do it as a team and find a third person (not likely as the transport would then be complicated) or we do it as individuals and just wait for each other if we can get leaving times near each other. That would mean we have to do it at my level (since I'm ruddy qualified), which won't faze the teenager in the PTV (although it might me!!!) but she doesn't want to do the 25km POR ...... oh decisions, decisions ....

I can't believe that you, Racaille, are asking this question. Of course go and do it. Take your oppertunities when you can. I know it would be great do do it with the teenager but you might have more fun on your own. No one to nag you or complain about things or cramp your style (humble apologies to your daughter if she is not like this- just thinking of a friend of mine and her daughter.)

Well, it's done. I'm signed up. ;D
We have found a formula that works for us. As this is a new discipline for the host club they are only offering two classes: Club and Club Elite. We've opted for the Individual Club as the POR is only 12km and the PTV not more than 5km, with 12 obstacles. Whoever goes off first on the POR will wait for the the other as it's more fun. What points we lose in time we hope to regain in finding all the hidden markers ;D
This club has a very nice XC course so I assume we'll be on that, with a very impressive water feature.
So far there are not many people signed up, but there's another week to go so we'll see. Small is beautiful in my book as this is very much a re-gainer of confidence ;D

Annoyingly, the FFE has now decreed that all riders have to wear a BP in the PTV. So I've just had to go out an buy a cheapie from Decathlon but managed to get one of the new type 'lobster tail' ones. They are (for me) more comfy - don't squash my boobs but yes, they only offer protection for the spine, not shoulders or ribs. The don't seem to be on the UK site, anyone else use one? www.decathlon.fr/coque-dorsale-noire-id_8159915.html

Haven't seen one of those BP's before - at least not for horse riders (seen them, or similar, for bikers). They are pretty funky though . Looking forward to hearing all about your exciting day out...and also about how well behaved P and R are on their trip
