I was always led to believe that sugar beet must be soaked in order to feed it to the horse - length of time depending on the type you have of course.
But have heard that there has been research/reports into feeding it dry with no ill effects.
Has anyone else heard this? Thoughts?

I have heard it too but just wouldn't risk it having had it drummed into me.

Never fed it to be honest, but I've always heard that it should be soaked first...even the idea of speedibeet makes me a bit wary as everyone has always said that any sugarbeet should be soaked for a long time.

I think there was some comment about that it is processed differently in america than over here - we get it imported already processed or something.

Tend to feed damp anyhow so soaking it just adds the moisture content. I heard of a mare that got a blockage after she raided the feedroom. Not sure if she died but think she was poorly. It was interesting that she chose the sugar beet to gorge on as there were other things available in sacks.

Rockefeller once raided a feed room (on Christmas eve) and ate a large amount of dry sugar beet amongst other feeds - all belonging to someone else! vet instructed me to put him in a bare stable with just water to drink. He actually didn't appear to have any ill effect what-so-ever at any point, apart from looking slightly guilty and having a boring Christmas day in. Cost me a bomb replacing everyones feeds.
