Well, I was able to go to the 3rd leg of the autumn league this afternoon - by the luck of the gods this is the second time i have just happened to not be working when theres jumping on!
I just entered for the two classes today - the 65cm and the 85cm. unfortunately no pics as had to go on my own so kinda lonely as most people there were outsiders who brought there own horses and i didnt know them.
I just took the same horse as last time as you have to ride the same horse to be eligible for league prizes.
Had a bit of difficulty with the saddle today as it was a dressage saddle which meant my knees were sticking out over the edge and therefore i wasnt in the best of balance. However i managed to stay on and thats the main thing! ;D
The 65cm was quite substantial in size today, some people commented it was higher but it jumped well.
S just went round on autopilot, he took flyers at some of the jumps - he was basically sorting out his own strides and take off points and i was just steering - sometimes i would have approached in trot and he would have begun to canter slowly and then a few strides out he would just surge forward and meet the fence figuring it out himself. This then meant that i just had to hang on tight and i lost my reins a few times! Thank god he locked onto his jumps and left me to scramble around gathering up my reins - good thing he didnt run out but he was loving it lol!
Anyway, kind of felt like i rode like a numpty in this class as i was losing my reins and riding like a complete tool and Skippy was making it look so easy.
But went ahead and did the 85cm as well - didnt feel as nervous for this class for some reason and put my stirrups down a bit and felt like i jumped better, i didnt lose my reins in this class at all so that was an improvement already lol! He was still taking flyers - he took a double (spread and upright) he launched himself over the first one (85/90cm) and then one massive stride and then launched himself over the second upright and i was just hanging on for dear life lol!! It was all very smoothly done though.
S was a complete star, a true schoolmaster! So got 2 double clears and two shiny rosettes - woop!
