Keep signing and sending to everyone you know guys. To other countries also please!! Thanks xx I've sent it to contacts in Australia, Italy and Spain, who I know will sign and send it on. I know we've already got Canada and France on this forum, too. Any of you have any other countries you've forwarded to? It would be interesting to see how far afield the forum can spread it. One friend (in England) said she had signed it but didn't think it would make any difference. Why are the British so defeatist?

Don't think they are in general. I certainly got the most positive results over here. Thanks for spreading the word though. Keep up the good work. xx

Popsicle, I've just had a thought (does'nt happen often!) about those wretched Yanks. Hasn't America just borrowed heavily from China because of their dreadful economy? If that's so, they won't want to upset them. No excuse for their thoughtless attitude though.

I hate politics. But guess lots of the posters on that forum wouldn't have known that anyway, But I guess if China wants the money back, then they had better not upset the USA lol

Dang varmints. Now where'd I put that darn banjo? Ah. dadadangdangdangdangdangdangdang squeal piggy, squeal! That's just what they sound like on that forum. Says it all, I suppose. Keep on trying, there must be some intelligent ones out there! Well done for doing so much and bringing it to our attention.

OMG!! A friend in Italy sent me this video last November and I was sick. But a petition will do no good. There are no animal welfare laws in China so there is no organisation that a petition can go to. Also, China does not give a damn about the opinion of any foreign national: look at the reaction to the boycott of the Olympic Torch in support of the people of Tibet. You could try protesting to the Chinese Ambassador in London. She has a website and you can leave a message. Just don't expect a reply. I think that maybe if we all stopped buying anything made in China and made it clear why we were doing that, then we might have some chance of getting the message over. Wu

Wu We must not be defeatist about petitions. The petitions for each country will be handed to their governments and just as hundreds of thousands of people worldwide have already been moved enough to sign, government ministers are also human and only one in each government needs to be moved enough to make a stand or that government only needs enough pressure from its voters to push that government to protest. You are right that sending a petition to China will not work, but China is desperate to be seen as a world leader and there are signs that they are willing to look at humanitarian issues to get this recognition and these pelts are a very insignificant contribution to the Chinese economy and could easily be sacrificed if China had enough world pressure.

Well said, popsicle. I'm sure people are getting sick of me banging on about China but I'm not going to stop spreading the word until this stops. (I had a comment the other day from a colleague - well they must die after that anyway, musn't they? Cue lecture) Some people forget that if we all stand together, even with minimum effort like signing petitions, we can make a maximum effect.

How can we possibly just FORGET about this now we know its happening? The more people who know about this and are moved to make a stand, the better!! Well done Flo

I HAVE SIGNED IT AND I ALSO WATCHED THE VID. HOW PEOPLE CAN DO THAT SORT OF THINGS TO DEFENSELESS(POO AT SPELLING) ANIMALS! THEY ONLY WANNA PLEASE PEOPLE AND THIS IS THE REASON WHY SOME ANIMALS (NOT ALL) ARE DANGEROUS TO BE AROUND =. THEY HAVE BEEN BADLY ABUSED AND CONTINOUSLY BEATEN.
