on the subject of winter gear I'm looking for a new pair of winter riding boots.
I previously swore by muck boots but their quality seems to be going downhill and I killed my last pair - they split front and back on the ankles and they only lasted 4 months grrr!
So this year I have bought the heavy duty muck boots for general yard work and getting the boys in and out but want a pair of toasty warm boots to ride in.
I looked at the Tuffa ones with velcro at the top and liked them but they are only good if you have long legs and they dont do a short fitting.
I also liked the look of the mountain horse winter active boots but there is a recognised fault about them splitting across the toe.
I did look at the toggi ones which are a bit too much like a country boot to wear with jeans and I have a feeling will fall down with riding as I want something that I can contnue to school in.
Any ideas?

I've always liked the woof wear boots but they always split after a while. This year i've bought some of these (off a stall at a show actually but there the same brand/style) - they do a spring and a winter version (which i have and is full of furry stuff and very warm) and so far they are proving to be fully waterproof and a fraction of the price of durberry's etc. I've been riding in them just fine as well, they are extremley comfortable and i'm not fan of riding in long boots usually, I generally go for trainer style boots. Mine were a fair bit cheaper than the pair I linked to as well so well worth shopping around. They do a much 'prettier' version with laced sides but I decided these would be more likely to leak and I was after practical rather than appearance for once...plus in honesty now my mum was there and is far more sensible than me/my sister who both liked the laced ones.

i ahve the toggie quebecs which are amazing and fantastic and toasty warm for on the yard but they have dropped considerably with riding although it could be because i am a 3 1/2 and got a 4 to allow room for thick socks etc :/ as a result i cannot wear them to ride in anymore as they do not support my ankles enough and i need really firm support for my hypermobility which is starting to get worse the toggi canyons are a cross between the quebec yard boot and the calgary riding boot - they are geared more towards riding but look more like a yard boot and the rep that comes to work recomends them for riding in, if you decide to get a pair they are dirt cheap on ebay compared to in shops etc. i was going to recomend the mark todd winter boots but you beat me to it with the link fi!!! we have sold pair upon pair of these and work and many of our customers praise them to the heavens and back - extremely warm and hardwearing and nice to ride in. hope this helps

I have the tuffa suffolk boots if those are the ones you are meaning Fi. They fit my short, fat cob legs just fine. I've had them just over a year and they are great, warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
