On Rosie's balance issues. Firstly I am going to get the relevant checks done, saddler, chiro, physio as there bout due. She has some real balance issues more so in her canter work and we cant seem to work them out. I have managed to stop her motorbiking round a 20m circle and have slowed down alot but it is really difficult to stop her head from going to the outside and slow her down and keep her in canter. She doenst rush into the transition anymore but its not fluid and still has to throw in a quick trot before hand. Latley she does seem to not want to make the transition so thats why i am have the checks done, but that is only lately. Her canter transitions are better on the lunge as she just goes straight into them but she still looks to the outside. She is much better in her trot work she does occasional choose to drop her inside shoulder or just refuse to bend but its just more of an issue in the canter. Her left rein is her worst. Is there any exercises or anything i can do to help her gain this balance? Thankies in advance chocolate bourbons for the help

It could be a suppleness issue, try in walk riding lots of bendy lines and serpentines etc, that may help her.
Start in walk and when easy in walk progress to to trot etc. as it becomes harder for them as they go faster.
Are you having any lessons with a good instructor at all as they too might give you some ideas.

I was having lessons untill she moved yards and now shes not allowed back on the yard . we were just starting doing lots of serpentines. She does find it more difficult in walk and trot is her best pace and 90% doesnt have an issue with beding. Occasionally she will drop her shoulder and resist the bend. I was just hoping by now to see a bit more improvement in the canter. Dont get me wrong since February we have come along way, we no long motorbike and most of the time we can go at a sensible speed.. When i have been schooling i have been doing lots of bends But mostly in trot. Think had minor break through on the lungeing last night. She wasnt half as bad with looking to the outside and was getting really good upward trainstions with her head low even up to canter! So she can do but obviously struggles with me on top.

i know my right side is definalty my strongest hence why both our left is poor. I think i have straightened out a fair amount as had physio on my knees as before was putting more weight in my left leg and stirrups were wonky but felt level. My balance isnot as good as it could be as proved by having to stand in my stirrups. Me and my instructor couldnt stop laughing! as kept fallin and couldnt stay up So think i'll go back and do some more of that too. Im still learning to try lean back abit more and be in a better position in canter but because of the way shes goes i find it very difficult.

lunged (2lines) rose today and she does seems to be improving on her left rein and now her right is getting bad...*sigh* On the left she is pretty much not looking to the outside and generally more using herself properly and in an outline. But on the right (which is her good rein while ridden) she has began to really pull on the line (killing my arm in the process!) and in canter look alot to the outside.
But in general she does seem to be improveing the more lunge work i am doing.

Jumped rose last night and well to start in the warm up she was being particualry stubborn! Just because: 1. it was dark 2. Horse was being lunged at the top (she gets excited with another horse in the school) 3, theres poles out. 4. cows were moving in the dark.
Grr took us over half hour to actually get her to actually give to the contact and not be a giraffe. But once marely was walking and after the half hour and after first jump she began to work nicely and jumped lovely most of the time. Did some nice trot poles aswell.
She is funny though cause yesterday went out on half hour hack then came back and schooled . Well rosie was so not impressed with that fact and went in a lovely outline out of protest (cant really explain it) and worked well and had a nice canter too on her right rein.
