fashion advice required!! bought myself a lovely shires malvern tweed jacket a few weeks ago with my hard earned babysitting money. my BHS exam is next week and i just need a tie and will get a pair of cheapy black gloves to wear. any ideas on what colour of tie to get? i was going to wear a pale cream shirt which i think looks well, rather than a white shirt. i have a pony club tie, do you think the BHS would let me wear it or would you be safer wearing a normal tie? also, is there a 'rule' for colour of riding hat and colour of jacket? girl in shop mentioned something about how you dont wear a black hat with a brown tweed i think? never heard of this before! any ideas just out of curiosity. thanks quite excited that im actually going to look the part! LOL! love getting all dressed up ;D

I've got a dark green tie with my hacking jacket - which is a greeny colour too. And a creamy yellow shirt. Brown gloves. I do have a black hat silk - would prefer brown but don't think it matters.

I thought it depended on what colour the horse was too? For example, if I were to show Faith then I'd need a green tweed jacket, a pale blue shirt, navy tie (or I think it could be red instead? ), canary yelow jodhs, brown boots and gloves, a blule velvet hat with a tan coloured fastening bit, and then finally finishe off with brown tack, barely visible numnah and a white girth (because Faith's white where her girth goes so you wouldn't really see a white girth - which aopparently is the point *shrugs*). I'd have thought that a tie is a tie to be honest, but perhaps you could check with whoever's doing your BHS training to find out exactly what's what.

The colour should just complement your horse (hence I go for browny shades) but doing the Stage 1 you're not going to know what horse you're given beforehand therefore just smart and colour co-ordinated
