I persoanlly prefer black, but brown can look nice on some horses - depends on their colour I spose. Pink is wrong. sorry to those with pink tack...

I prefer brown. Pink is a big no no! But i do like coloured bridles and have red or purple ones for my boys.

Pink webbing and pink synthetic boots are fine, i have a pink set of lecacys, but where leather is concerned, black or brown. Imo, a decent saddler wouldnt make a leather saddle in pink, its going to be foreign leather, which after looking at the shires pink bridle ... : i would never put a bridle on which was snapping at a glance!!

pink can be a bit, erm, overpowering? we have a pink equine bridle, its got simple pink lining on the browband and noseband that stands out as the horse's face is black with a big white stripe, but isnt ghastly or really outstanding, its quite subtle. black or brown saddles all the way (except kiddies ponies!), dont mind coloured boots, but prefer black, and theyre easier to pass off as clean than white! xx

I recently brought brown tack as it is more correct for showing but I still like black. I love the colours pink and purple and would love coloured tack for every day use, however I don't think it would look right on my boy and I can't afford too!!!

It might be my age, (60), but I can't help feeling that coloured tack on a horse (unless it is an Arab) looks terribly Barbie or Bratz. Headcollars, leadropes, etc. and bandages in colours, ok, but saddles and bridles? Urgh.
Also I have never tried synthetic tack, except for a girth.
I like both black and brown tack, but I have only seen brown in Sidesaddles!
I would be interested to learn more, as I am slowly feeling my way back into the horse world after a long absence.
Cheers, midori

My daughter Kim was given some pink tack by a national horse magazine....she was to use it and then a write up on it which she did.....I don't think i would have bought it her otherwise, nothing wrong with, it defintely turned heads and was the envy of some of the young on the yard.....ha ha She will prob use it again this summer for hacking out in ;D

Depends on the horse really, but not pink apart from on a small childs pony maybe! Shearer has black tack because it suits him better, and brwn suits Murphy better- depends on the colour of the horse really!

Mine are in black for Apollo (Chestnut) for everyday and brown for showing. Pearl has a nice tobacco coloured bridle and saddle (western ) and also a dark reddy-brown coloured western set but her english will be brown as black is too much for her colouring (palomino). Would have been tempted for pink when I had my first pony 13 years ago but couldn't get hardly anything in pink let alone saddlery then... how times have changed!! lol

i like black an brown (horse dependant) saddle and bridle but think for general use (hacking schooling pleasure etc) then a range of colours are great for numnahs and boots and headcollars and leadropes etc can look particurly striking.
