Went to another show on Saturday. Not such a good day! Did M&M in hand & ridden and Riding club pony. M&M inhand was first. There were only 4 in the class – a Welsh stallion who despite rearing, bucking the whole time and being a general pleb and winding up all the other horses won the class. A gorgeous Section D was second – imo should have won. We were 3rd with a young looking new forest in 4th.
In the ridden class we were up against the gorgeous D and an equally gorgeous Connemara. I knew we didn’t stand a chance from the start unfortunately and Eddie sealed her fate by forgetting what brakes were, did her best giraffe impression and wait for it – stopped dead to itch her leg half way through our show!!! LOL I was very embarrassed. So we were last in that.
Finally the RCP there were 5, all kids on small ponies except me! Felt a bit out of place. Eddie changed her ways for this class and did a lovely show (or it felt it to me) popped a jump but we were still pulled in last! Clearly didn’t have the cute factor.
So we then went and redeemed ourselves in the Handy pony – roadworks and tarpaulin are no problem for my Ed and we won the 16 and over class!
So not such a great day results wise but fun none the less. And really I hadn’t prepared at all due to just no time recently so wasn’t expecting much.
And I did win a prize in the raffle to make up for it!
The lady with the Welsh stallion above was incredibly rude. I was watching the youngstock in hand which she was in and again stallion was rearing, trying to bolt etc and she got asked to keep it away from the other competitors by the judge. At the end she was unplaced due to it’s behaviour – quite rightly so. On leaving the ring she declared ‘I can’t believe those donkeys were placed over him’ to her friend in a loud voice still in ear shot of the judge and other competitors. So I said back ‘how very rude of you, as the class is judged on manners as much as everything else maybe it’s something you need to address at home and you’re own while you’re at it’ or something along those lines! Cue open mouthed look and she flounced back to the lorry park shouting that I was clearly a bad loser as she’d beaten us earlier!! Urrrrm, yes I’m the bad loser......
