Just back from an hours trail ride/hack at a trekking place ive never been before but that's actually pretty local. They only take novices or more experienced people and dont cater for beginners so was kinda wary but now my confidence has come on i decided to go for it.
So I took my friend along too as her lesson had been cancelled and we fancied a nice wee hack!
Her horse was a gorgeous fleabitten grey full connemara gelding - kind of a cross between Connie and Kieran!! I had a lovely sturdy chestnut gelding who i am very tempted to steal lol!! I want to take him home, he was just perfect.
We hacked round the roads and bridleways around the stables for a good hour and had some trots and canters. it was just like being out on your own horses, they were well cared for and well mannered, not strong but forward thinking at the same time - they werent plods, they just reminded me of your own horse. They were bombproof in traffic, so safe.
We had such a good time. The lady said that most people would do the 2hr hack which goes up to the forest and theres more opportunity for canters and jumping logs and stuff - the bridle paths we were on were kinda stony and so there wasnt much good ground suitable for cantering on but we squeezed a few in!
Would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone!

Thats brilliant its so nice to get out for a hack isnt it and even better when the horse is well behaved. It sounds a lovely place. Do you think you would go back for the 2 hour one?
