Took my gorgeous boy out for a walk today, had a lovely hack. We first went along the trusty railway line, then I crossed over the A32 to get into the lovely big Winnie the Pooh woods. Had a little sneaky canter, then got asked by forestry comission guy for my pass, first time I have been asked for it in two years! Glad I am on of the few that bothers! Then a really lively canter up a steep hill where mr Pete was going for it a bit! ;D ;D Back across the busy main road and home. would never have dreamed of doing that trip a year ago. Such a fab time the best time in life is spent in the saddle!

WOW, get you being so brave! And good old Pete for looking after you . Definitely agree that the best time in life is spent in the saddle. I managed a short ride on my pony tonight (first time in aaaaages!) and by god do I feel better for it. Faith was so good and I just can't stop grinning ;D ;D ;D. Horses are THE BEST!!!

My best advice to you DB is to go for it-when you are ready. No rush. Don't put pressure on yourself. Enjoy it stay safe and be happy! With horses in your life, you are half way there.

Hi being nosey just wondered how much you have to pay for your forest pass. Ours for the Ashdown are £100 now which I think is a bit steep but worth it to be able to get off the roads.

£55 a year plus £10 for hat band on off. We pay it as we use the forest alot! But lots don't pay which drives us mad!

Yeah that is annoying when others dont bother to pay. On Ashdown the price has gone up each year from £30 about 5 years ago to £100 now so I think more people try to get away with it but theyve got mounted rangers to check now so its getting tougher. I often think that would be ideal job - riding around the forest all day to check badges!
