Should you do it or should you leave it alone? How often should you clean it? Thanks

Squirt baby oil on it when I can! Not very scientific but it helps!

I don't have a boy so don't have to do it BUT I tend to try and keep Faith's teats clean and gunk free...she sometimes has other ideas and tries to sit on my head so I just try to clean her up as and when I get the chance. I think with a gelding it wold be a similar story - clean it whenever you get the chance! If it's really loppy then it would be worth cleaning it properly and getting all the gunk out, but otherwise I think Sol's idea (and I think haffy does something similar) of just squirting it with baby oil to keep things loose and to stop dirt from sticking is a good thing.

I will only do it very occasionally - funnily enough did Harveys today as he had a bath all over - it was pretty clean anyway so i just gave it a quick hose. Unless they've got problems in that area and something needs treating I think its better left for nature to do it's thing

I clean the boys around 1-2 times a year - and surprisingly (or not) they all seem to enjoy it cant say the same for me when you are up to your elbow in sheath...
I will also do it if they start to smell or squeak.
