Went up to yard about 1pm, it had been raining all morning so decided not to ride and just do a few yard jobs. We got carried away and didn't go to check on the boys till about 3.30pm. We can't see the boys field from the yard. When we got to them Pete was shaking like a leaf, proper teeth chattering frozen. Poor boy, they dragged us back to the yard. Cue hurried bed laying rugging and bucket filling! Left him after a warm feed of chaff, with a huge net of haylage.Barney was cold too but not shivering like Pete. Feel so bad.

Faith was rather chilly too...all tucked up in her 'jamas (that snuggle her right up to her ears ) with her tea, a pile of hay and a big cosy straw bed. I felt so bad seeing her shiver, but she's all snuggly and warm now. I'll bet Pete is too

I'm a feeling guilty mum too - Murph was sulking inside shelter (wouldn't even come out for his tea had to take it over to him!) but Harry was out and wet. Rugged Murph, who as a result was dry, but left harry as he wasn't cold/shivering but i always feel bad rugging one and not the other even though they are very different.

Smurphy Murphy is in his medium weight turnout tonight. He only wore it a couple of times in the winter but with a summer coat they have so little protection from the rain, add in some strong winds and they soon start to feel cold. Who'd have believed we'd be rugging in June!!

I know! Rugs on in june...madness!!! Still, if a pony is cold then they need a coat on, regardless of the time of year. Faith certainly appeared to appreciate her snuggly jim jams

Even Eddies in her rain sheet tonight. Starting to wish I'd put something a little warmer on. Still she can go in if she wants to and thankfully does if it's horrid. Much as it's 'orrible for us my field is turning slightly greener so I say bring on the rain!

it was horrible yesterday! rose was shivering but had no rug on. Brought her in for a bit and we were all humming and arrring weather to turn back out again but we did. Just put a lightweight on rose and went to poo pick but got up there and cause the fields are so open the wind + rain was horrid and plus rose is on restricted once her hay would run out she would be cold so stuck her medium with neck on as felt better for it although her neck wasnt even used in the winter!

Did he have a rug on all day? He had his rain sheet on during the day as it didn't stop raining all day. Then because he'd had that on all day I upgraded him to the medium weight overnight. Mostly because the rainsheet starts to get a bit damp inside after a days worth of rain has fallen on it.
