beauty had very itchy ears earlier this year and had strange lumps like warts. we were told they were called aural plaques which could have been caused by flies biting. we were told to leave alone and in a few months they completely disappeared. she hated that ear touched but now she is fine. dont know if harry's is the same.

he has been like it since I had him and loves you giving them a good scratch. Last night when I was riding, he was holding his left ear at a ver peculiar angle and shaking his head - a good scratch fixed it! Its greasy inside and scurfy when you scratch it (I probably shouldnt be scratching it I know) but no warty type things...

sudocrem might help. i also swear by aloe vera gel as this will moisturise and soothe it. i use this on dazzle as before we got him he ran into a tree branch as he was turned out and ripped all his withers and down the side. now, it gets really dry and scurfy and is itchy and this helps

Hi ceej, ear plaques are horribl and can turn the inside of the ears white but it doesnt sound like them. You could trim the ears a little by holding them together and trimming any protruding hairs, but you shouldnt trim inside, also wipe them with a little diluted parrafin to ward of any mites. I dont think theres anything wrong with giving him a good old scratch if he wants it- another horse would do it for him. brig
