I was just looking at my BHS stuff and was thinking about what youre supposed to do when working in the stable. You have to make sure that all equipment is placed in a convenient and safe location.
So i was thinking that instead of a box that you put on the floor inside the stable where it would get all full of bedding/hay/dirt and may be kicked or trampled on, even despite thinking it's out of the road - an idea might be to have one of those feed buckets that hang over the door and have your grooming kit in that - the inside of the door would be handier but BHS probably wouldnt like that as it still might be too unsafe, so you could put it on the outside and all you would have to do would be to reach over and get your brush or whatever.
Sorry, bit of a silly post, loads of people probably do this! ;D
Also, a question about mucking out; you have to 'maintain a clean working environment' by lifting the dung when your're grooming/tacking up etc and before starting.
Instructor at RS who i did the training with says that you need to keep the wheelbarrow outside the stable and keep the door closed unless you are going in or out with the fork etc. Which is actually really awkward. You would think that if the horse was tied up, it would be ok to have the door open and the wheelbarrow in the doorway whilst you skipped out? Horse has to always be tied up when you do any task in the stable.
Can anyone clarify this for me?
*PS just to warn you, there will be many more silly questions coming your way over the summer as i wade my way through the BHS syllabus lol!
