Drought, We have not had a proper rain since the start of March and the ground is hard a rocks in most places and no sign of the grass growing. I've been schooling in next doors sand school and jumping the xc jumps in the woods with Fire but its furstrating not being able to do much with him. Trav is doing lots of walk hacking and is loving every minute of it. He is going for half hour solo hacks good as gold and we.ve been practising taking him down to our neighbours to get him used to the horses with the plan of eventually riding him in the sandschool. Both times to be greeted by a whinnying arab stallion Hes been doing a little trot and trot poles on the field where its not too bad but really have not been able to do much with him. WE need rain!!!!

We have been getting very worried about the abscence of rain for the last 6 weeks or more. Alan, the YO's dad and farmer is getting very concerned as if it doesn't start raining there will be no grass to make hay and haylage. Thankfully we have now had quite a bit over the last 3 days but not sure if its going to be enough as another warm spell is forecast. The ground is rock hard and extremely dusty. I'm going to Google rain dancing rachel x

We're the same. Fiels is just yellow dust. I am dreading what the hay crop will be like this year. My instructor grows her own and she said its less than a foot high but going to seed already. So it's going to be another expensive winter....

thats what my farrier said about the hay. las year they got a 75% of a normal crop and this year there expecting 25% of a normal crop.
Hallaluah we've had rain though and a fair bit of it. (we had less then 3mm in April, then almost nothing till Thursday). Bad for sand colic.
I never thought that 1) I be sooooo excited to see a puddle. 2) I'd be happy as larry going for a hack in the rain.
