took Chomps out for an early morning hack this morning and went flying around a grass field into which the farmer had kindly left the gate open... Went as fast as Chopmy can (when not chasing down another horse) around it... was great to have a canter/gallop, all muscles seem to be remembering what to do now... WAS FANTASTIC! but oh am I saddle sore or what!

I am taking it easy... With Chompy you dont worry that he is going to do anything silly, you just sit there and enjoy the ride!
have decided to ride him for a couple of weeks as muscles strengthen up again, before tackling bad boy Brave...

DB - its not having them its keeping them... have decided now that I need a baby sitter for an hour a day to let me escape on horseback... pity all grandparents are a minimum of 3 hours away.

DB unfortunately not... will go to some of the mum and baby groups once I'm allowed to drive ( yes I am riding before being allowed to drive naughty me but I have to get out...) and see what/who I can find, word of mouth is great.
Jack - definately not wonderwoman, just lucky to be able to afford some help so get all my cleaning and ironing done, and H ad L haveen doing all my mucking out for me, which at the moment leaves me a lady of leisure aside from looking after Abi...
next week I'll pick up the horsey chores again, but I'll probably have to fight H and L off, peversly we all enjoy mucking out!

You are never tempted to leave them out in summer?

yes but not yet - due to the increased risk of Grass Sickness, and the fact that they are a bunch of fatties so I need to take them off the grass. They will start going out a night soon and be in during the day.

Summer routine working nicely for us now. Boys come in at lunchtime have a sleep, get ridden then out for the night. No early mornings, bliss!
