...for Casper but I'm not sure what size would be best for both Casper & N. I'm going to get a pony GP saddle but there is nothing on Ebay.
My friend P is going to lend me a saddle in the meantime. I could buy a new synthetic saddle - any suggestions?
I don't suppose any of you have a saddle laying about thats for sale and that would meet my requirements?

Thanks Flea. I'm not sure if safari cub or ordinary pony GP would be best N wants the Safari cub but when she was doing around the world exercises etc: she couldn't really manage to get her leg over the handle / rear.

I suppose seeing as she is going to progress to doing more stuff you would be better investing in a decent GP - i think you can get a wee strap to clip onto the D rings so she could still have a wee handle if necessary. The cub wouldnt do for very long and if you were to sell it on after the two of them grew out of it, you probs wouldnt get much for it.

I think the thorowgood pony saddles are excellent. Easy to look after and hard wearing, you couldn't go wrong with one of these.

Unless doing serious showing Id go for a synthetic also, but no real experience of pony saddles DB so will be picking your brains later!!

No idea what they are like but thye have some very cheap cub saddles on ebay UK. This one for example As far as I am aware they are pretty much one fits all as either the gullet adjusts on some brands or they have a flat underside (in a more treeless/western style). If they are cheap enough you could maybe have one to start with till you get a proper pony saddle sorted as it will always come back in as useful when the little one starts to ride as well. I like the idea of the handle and they seem to have a slighly higher cantle sometimes too to help keep them in the seat.

I think the pony club also have a list of approved saddled as I have seen one stamped Pony Club approved - if I'd known I'd have bid a little harder for one at a farm sale I went to a few weeks back I bid up to £25 for saddle and numnah and it eventually sold for £27...
