Been out for one of our usual long hacks today with no problems till about 20 mins from home on a upward hill, a road so not a rough track, Deb's suddenly went lame on a back leg, hadn't noticed her catch a stone and she hadn't slipped or anything.
Walked her slowly home and hosed her down for a long time. There was no heat in her joints just maybe a tiny bit of "puffiness" in her leg just above the ankle at the back at the bottom of the cannon bone if that makes sense. Have left her shoe on for now, she is putting weight on it now but still looks uncomfortable.
I am hoping it is just a sprain, will check her in the morning and she can have a day off anyway. If no better next week then I shall have to call Mr Vet...

Poor debs, hope she is better very soon and it's something and nothing. The grounds really unforgiving right now - we really need some rain!

Sounds like you could be right that its a sprain as she isnt the sort to fall lame easily Im guessing!

Get well soon Debs. Barney did this not so long ago. Think he might have had a bruised sole. Right as rain after two or three days rest.

Well I now have one very clean pony, we both had a bath this morning and a good grooming session. Have also now got the cleanest tack too, rather than stay at home and do housework did lots of jobs at field that normally don't get done as thoroughly.
Debs seemed ok this morning but later this afternoon I watched her getting up and she was very tender on her leg still. I spoke to vet who just said hose it for a few days and see how she is, I'm to leave her shoe on for now. She will basically have a rest until next saturday now anyway so fingers crossed it isn't anything more serious.

Fingers crossed it's nothing serious and that she'll be right as rain again soon. In the meantime, I'm sure she'll enjoy her rest and might even be brighter and happier afterwards

Good news, Debs trotted sound tonight. Will not be riding till saturday so she will have a good rest and I will do a shortish steady ride for a few days.
Looks like it was just a sprain - PHEW
