Boys out today from 8.30am to 7pm. They came in looking rather sleepy. Ate their tea-very small. Left them with hay/haylage. Hoping to start leaving them out 24/7 soon. Going to maybe keep them in after riding in the morning and pop them out for the night at tea time. Transitions with horses are always difficult any thoughts, tips?

Before we move the girls to their summer grazing we give them grass for a couple of hours at a time twice a day in our small paddock which has been kept for that purpose. Some horses will need help with the transition. Savvy can get colicky fairly easily after having no grass and then onto a massive amount of grass (18 ft square at most at first but density of grass is amazing) so she needs some grass after being on hay much of the winter. I think it depends on the horse, some are fine whereas others will need more of a gradual transition.

Murphy goes out from approx 8am - 7pm at the moment but if I had more land, I'd have him out 24/7 - he much prefers being out at all times.
