Yup, the first rando of my season in on Sunday. Paco is still a tiny bit porky but he's been working regularly and is slimmer and much fitter. I decided that if I waited for him to regain his former svelte shape I could wait a very long time and that I'd better just get on with it.
The rando will be a hard one however, through the monts de Vaucluse, around Fontaine de Vaucluse, a weird and wonderful place where a river gushes up from underground through a large sump hole. No one - not even the legendary Jacques Cousteau - has ever been able to find out how deep this hole is and the river that comes out of it is always a chilly 13C. Odd place but fascinating.
I've been doing quite of bit of hill climbing with P so he won't be taken by surprise - and some loading, which he does like a lamb when the trailer is parked in the garden. It's as soon as it's down the lane and his boots go on that he knows it's for real ....
