With Harry out of action we were confined to barracks this weekends. It crossed my mind not to ride murph but felt i ought to ... however having not worked in the field all winter he was not a happy bunny to put it mildly! The toys were thrown out of the pram in no uncertain terms much to my OH's delight/amusement (not sure they didn't cook it up together actually). He was appalling as you can see - any advice gratefully received. Okay so far - looks mild enough hmm - maybe not then. Not a good start naughty moi? not wanting to play mum said I'm not playing! lost him totally at this point only just missed falling over the well cover at last second which serves him right for not looking where he was going trying to lift the shoulder [not to mention head] back up (and stop) still edgy/back up finally calmed down/gave in and settled down but didn't dare push him - lots more schooling in field in order me thinks.

Nicely done Haf! Cheeky Murphy, but at least he cooperated a little bit in the end. Bet you were glad of your treeless saddle when he bucked...Faith tried it a few weeks back during a massive spook/nap/paddy leaving the yard and with how many little bunnyhop-boncos she did, I was suprised I stayed on as I did. Usualy I can sit one buck but the second lands me on the horses neck and I slip off sideways from there, but with Faith I somehow stuck to her, even when she had her head practically between her knees, and I just stayed put, stirrups or no stirrups lol. I've never been able to do that with a tree'd saddle. He he, gotta love being able to feel back muscles tensing up in preparation . Out of curiosity, what's the white starry type thing on the right hand side of your saddle? It caught my eye but I have no idea what it is lol.

The 'star things' are my bear and my pony keyrings (I always have 'mascots' on my saddles. Harry's bear only has one arm though as Murph tried to eat him once and we never did find the missing arm )

Aw that's a nice idea Haf. What got that idea started? (sorry, being really nosey now ) Can't remember exactly spotti, think my Mum or sister bought me a keyring and I decided to add it to my newly aquired saddle (even though murph hadn't been backed at that point I just couldn't wait to get one!) and it's just stuck (and expanded) as a little lucky charm thing ever since. Everyone should have a saddle buddy

Aww, they are too cute! I can see why you want to keep them there . Not sure if I have anything special enough to go on Faith's saddle...I have a golden snitch key ring that seems to be good in exams (either it's lucky or the fact that it's squishy seems to be a good thing ) but *touch wood* I've not needed that level of luck as of yet...might keep it in mind though if we ever go anywhere/do anything scary!!

Oh, he is being bold! You sat everything really well and isnt it typical that this is the day your OH is photographing you - not the time that everything is going beautifully. Still pictures are very impressive in a different way! Love the keyrings on the saddle.

Yup, well sat!
And a double thank you! You motivated me to get P down to the 'schooling field' that I use, much overdue, and then he too got a bit overexcited about the nice flatish grassy field and tried to put his head down (he also likes to buck for fun!) but I was ready for him and brought his head up in time as I remembered your Murph! ;D
