Am I asking to much from my pony? He's a 14yo 13.2hh [well if he's hyper he grows a few inches ] He's fit and strong but I still don't know I'm 5f 6" and lightweight I just dont know if he can cope with hard work [jumping dressage but no competing] also I would like to compete but I know I can't with my pony so I feel like I am stuck in a big rut... Thats a difficult question to ask as I don't know your pony or you - do you have some pics of you riding him? I'm 5'2" and my horse is 14.3 and i feel he is just about right for me but I could get away with riding something much smaller. I s'pose it's all to do with weight - his wt carrying capacity and your weight. I'm sure he is more than capable of having and active life with you but as for competition work you have to be realistic in what you want to achieve. You only have to watch the mounted games to see lots of smallish ponies with quite tall riders still having the time of their lives. Size doesn't always matter - small is beautiful! Zx ps the woman i bought AJ off has a 19yr old 13.2 pony, she's taller than me and they both still enjoying an active riding relationship

I don't think that would be asking too much. Ponies are very strong. I ride my lil brothers pony and he is 13hh and im 5ft 4". My lw 14hh arab will happily work everyday, Doing anything as long as its not boring Faster the better. As long as he seems comfortable and happy with his work load I think you'll be fine. Increase it gradually and see how you go. How come you can't compete your pony?

try local unaffiliated shows, im sure theres some out there that let adults compete on ponies. where abouts are you, ill see if i can find anything!! a lot of summer shows, however, do say "no over 16s on ponies" (this happens a lot with PC, i find) how old are you? can you pass yourself off for under 16? they dont check!! if not, ask if you can go hours concours (HC) where you compete same as everyone else but are excluded from placings, in a way? xx

Thanks you lot i'm only 14 the reason i cant compete is that Brandy has never competed in the 10 years of having him, and Mum is a bit over protective of him[ doesnt bother about me i can look after myself ] and all the local shows round here seem a bit stuck up mainly the nearest one to us. thanks Lizzie
