I've noticed that Faith's saddle can slip back sometimes when we're riding. It's not because it's not girthed up tight enough, it seems its more due to the exuberance of Faith's bounding up and down hills! (she really does love that new hacking .
It doesn't move a lot but it's enough to tilt my pelvis a little...I have a dodgy back/pelvis so I'm always very aware of how I'm sat and and how straight we are etc, and this saddle slipping business is putting us out ever so slightly, and if I'm out then it makes Faith go 'out', which in turn makes me worse, and her worse...it's a vicious cycle.
Anywho, I was looking into things that might stop it slipping and I came across this www.horseandharmony.co.uk/libbys-endurance-breast-girth-905-p.asp. I quite like the sound of it, but I have no idea how the sizes work...Faith's only 14.2hh but has a broad chest and although you'd think she'd need a cob size, she has full size other bits and bobs...
There are other breast girths/plates out there (like this one www.hought.com/endbp.html) but some look really thin and like they might dig in (?) or rub etc. I read somewhere that the typical 'breast girth', i.e. one that is like a piece of elastic across the chest, can rub and that horses with broad chests can "step out" of them and get them too low down to be of any help .
I guess what I'm asking is does anyone knows anything about slipping saddles (it's treeless and well padded so fitting shouldn't be an issue) or breast girths/plates, specifically that Libby's one Any help much appreciated .
* just to add that I'm not sure if one of those rubbery pad things (gel pads?) would help as on the flat or up and down gentle slopes the saddle doesn't budge, it's just when Faith really stretches out and bounds up and down the hills!
