We are hacking the horses to new yard on Friday afternoon now. they will be allowed to go out Saturday morning. Any tips, hints for making it as smooth as possible gratefully received. We are going to take some of their hay and bedding with us. i have a calmer syringe I could give him, left over from when my friend tried some on her cob for clipping. It didn't touch him so I don't think they are very strong. I plan on hanging around until dark Friday and we will go early Saturday morning. hoping he won't get too stressed.

Sol I'm sure he'll be fine. Just try and keep yourself calm and normal. Once he gets out on the grass I'm sure he'll be in heaven! And he's got his buddy with him so that will be familiar. Are they going out in a herd or do you have your own paddock?

I wouldn't worry about the aclmer if I were you, simply have their stables ready before you go, then hack them over and when you get there stick to your normal sort of routine you do when you finish hacking at you current home, untack, brush off, rug up (if appropriate) pop into stables, leave to settle with a bit of hay.
when you turn out for the first time, make sure it is light so they can see and explore their new environment, if they are just out on their own then they should settle preety quickly but you'll probably see them eat a few mouthfulls wander a few steps, eat a few more etc etc as they work their way around the field, if they are next to other horses they will probably immediately go to say hello have a sniff and a squeal and a bit of a play before settling down.
best tip is to just stay calm and keep to your current rountine as much as possible so whilst the environment has changed the horses know roughly what to expect when...

Sol please don't worry, I'm sure they will be fine. AJ is the bigest stress head there is and I didn't sleep for days when i had to move himbut he took it all in his stride and was an angel! He did some box walking and had run around the field when he first went out etc but I'm sure pete will be absolutley fine. Hope all goes well Zxx
