I have seen some forums where people have lots of photos under their names and a long thread can get hard to read when everyone has pictures underneath...however it is also nice to see the pictures too, so its your forum, your choice...do we have pictures underneath the names as well as avatars next to them or just the avatars?
Oh darn I cant seem to add a poll now..

it is the pictures below the post, the signature pictures - I can guess you will vote for  !! So if you say yes, you can have a picture to the side on the left AND a picture underneath...if you vote no, it will just be picture (which can be of anything from photobucket too, not just the ones already on the forum) on the left, none underneath. PS hope no-one with pics takes this as an insult!!! I have not added the poll because I think they should stay or go, but coz it is something that I can imagine people will have views on... |

well in that case i do likesig pics but i reckon they should be limited to 1 or 2 not like some people who have half a dozen that take up half a page

I liked the way we used to be able to do pictures on YH. They made a picture gallery with the new forum and I didn't really like that.
A picture gallery becomes impersonal, and yes we can see all the pretty little horses, but I want the story behind the pictures. I want to know that you had a great hack and while out riding you took some pictures.
You could put a limit on the number of pictures that you can add to your post, or we could have a time limit. Say, after 30 days that lot of pictures can be deleted, and new ones added.
The time limit can be on a honour system, and if for some reason the picture isn't deleted the monitor can do it.
I'm really pleased Ceej and Haffy that you are taking the time to see what would work best. I know it's not easy trying to please a crowd.
Whatever you choose to do, to manage this forum I will support you 100%. And if there is anyway that I can help then I am here for you.

I was actually going to ask everyone about that......I also thought that every month or so we could delete old threads not in use so as to keep the forum uncluttered and so it dosen't become too slow. What does everyone think? I know sometimes It is nice to find an old topic and bring it back but I am not sure how much space we actually have and don't want it to get really slow.
I must say i do appreciate how people are keeping the pics they post nice and small to save space too, it will all help.

I do like to see pix but when there are millions it does slow things down to the point that my dear old Mac dies.... I think one pic (avatar) is lovely and it is great, as Gnuton says, to see a pic in the text so you can read the story that goes with, but we should all try to be selective with the pix too.
Great idea to delete old topics ... when they are on page 99 we can probably do without them and if we need to revisit a new thread could do it.
Mega congrats to the two of you for this forum - I feel revitalised and as if I've 'come home'. I shall be obsessively posting for days/weeks/months ....

Personally I prefer just the avatar (picture at the side) because I get easily confused when there are pictures all the time, especially when they're of the same thing. Its just something that bugs me about other forums...the fact that the text gets bogged down in peoples pictures! And you know how much I love pictures, so this is a big thing coming from me. I too love to hear about the story behind the pictures otherwise they don't mean anything...pictures with no story are nice to look at but are impersonal and forgettable, so are a waste of time really. I'm voting just avatars  |

AHHH I have figured something out that makes this poll completely pointless!
You can chose whether you see other peoples avatars or signatures in your profile. Go to modify profile and scroll down - there are choices there of how you see things...if you say no, you jsut wont see them anymore..
I get confused with them so I have turned mine off...but for those who love to see them, turn them on!!!
It may be worth looking at your profiles just to make sure you have got all the settings you want...so if you cnat see any pictures on the side - you have probably got avatars switched off

I think that we should be allowed pics, but small ones, not huge, full size ones.
Some forums ive been on have specified a size limit? Maybe thats the route to go down?
