Murph's first hunter trial is this Sunday at Munstead. Doing the 2ft3. New x-country colours have arrived in post today (phew!). Keep everything crossed for us! Will let you know how it goes.
Seems weird to think that 3 years ago he'd never been sat on. He's a big boy now but he'll always be his mummy's little boy. ;D

Well........ we survived! Weather was perfect. Ground was perfect (thankfully as there's no way you can stud up a shoeless horse! ). Had a few stops to start with. Just think that Murph didn't really understand what it was all about. Wasn't scared of any of the jumps just a bit confused as to what all the cantering was about. Parted company 3/4 of the way round. Jumped the ditch perfectly but then put in a stop at the upright a couple of strides after it. Did it perfectly at 2nd attempt. Was just greenness and for a first outing was really rather good. ;D I'm sure the next time out will be even better. Anyway, more importantly, photos as promised.

I love the photos. He seems to be really enjoying himself and so did you by the sounds of things. Love the colours! When is the next one?

I love them too. Smashing photos. What a lovely boy Jo and what super coulours. Well done you both.... Is that the end of the season now? One of the liveries at my yard went down south somewhere this weekend but that is the last one she is going to this year.

Lovely pics although going by the avatar pic I had thought he was a dark chestnut! Seeing a bay was a bit of a shock

He has a lovely jump and yes, he looks eager (which is a great quality). Your colours look great. Well done on your first outing and I hope you will have loads more. Your photos are fantastic.

Flea - No funky saddle cloth unfortunately. I've got a treeless saddle so am quite limited to the type of numnah I can use. Just got a boring old white hi-wither one. Haffy - He's got darker as he's got older. The avatar picture was taken a couple of years ago when he was 4ish. His winter coat is much darker than his summer coat and he's got quite a lot of winter coat through already. Not sure about next outing. Probably Jump Cross in a couple of weeks time. I think that might be quite helpful for him in understanding that x-country is essentially the same as showjumping. ;D It is getting towards the end of the season but I'm quite happy to spend the winter schooling and then be ready to start the season next year. Need to build up the height we're jumping over the winter. Murph seems to think that you have to jump 5ft high over a 2ft 9" jump. He's fine at smaller heights. Again, it's just greenness and will come right with practice.
