An excuse for a new outfit

Murph had his first taste of x-country on Sunday. We had a lesson at my Instructor's yard. Considering it was the first time in his life that he'd even seen a x-country fence he was an absolute star. Did a step up/down, ditch, style, chair, trekehner and various logs and brushes. Started off one by one and then finished off putting them into a short course. Was a perfect way to start. He's such a confident soul I was a bit worried that he'd be a bit too bold but he was forward but listening.

So, even more excitingly, we've just ordered a new set of x-country colours. Black with blue glitter stars! ;D ;D Just got to find a small hunter trail to take him to now.

I now have a plan! There's a clear round XC not far from me on Sunday so we're off there for a pootle round. Depending on how that goes there is a Pony Club (I'll be the oldest person there!) 2ft 3" Hunter Trial at Munstead on 10th October. Part of me thinks it's completely mad to do a hunter trail so soon but he really didn't take a 2nd look at anything in our lesson. I felt the same about our first dressage and our first round of showjumps but he was absolutely fab and took it all in his stride (excuse the pun ). Will make a final decision after clear round on Sunday.
