Just wondering if any of you have done it? I have always wanted to and in fact my old instructor offered to bring me down her saddle one time (she rode/competed and hunted side saddle in her younger days) but she never did.
WHat brought it to mind was reading an article about it in Horse and Hound. (not recent - I get my H and H in bundles of about 20 every few months - Im third in the queue and there are another few after me). It looks so elegent and I would really love to give it a go.

Had a go once it was strange but good. There is a school locally that teaches it would love to learn. Expensive of course!

I had a go many moons ago (like over 20 years) on a riding holiday. I would love to give it a go again. It looks so elegant.

Ive done it several times but not really enjoyed it- too much faffing for me plus Im too short in the upper body to look elegant. The horse I used to have, Brig was really successful doing it with a friend. She and he did well at County level. Nearly all horses can do it provided they are sound and balanced and I think its something to try if you are currentlyin a rut with what to do next, as its different and challenging for both horse and rider.
Not sure what showing classes are held now, is it something that is gaining interest again?

Don't know if its gaining interest again Brig - just saw it in an old horse and hound. Sadly, you have ruined my dreams of elegence as I am also short in the upper body!!

I do think it helps being slim, which Im not!!!! But only in so much that I think slim people do look more elegant as a rule, whatever the discipline. Dont let my views spoil it for you though Duckles- if you can get the gear give it a go!!!

i really dont know how i am average height because i have to have short leg trousers and my body protector is a short back one lol!

It's something I would really like to try, I guess the main problem with it is the expense.
