Woke at 4am yesterday so worried. Managed to stay in bed til 7. Went to stables did jobs and at 9 started plaiting. That went well really pleased with his plaits. Found doing it very calming. Had a few more rescue remedy pastilles-they are the best invention since Rescue Remedy! Then off we went. Pete loaded and traveled well. we were really early so he chilled and ate hay for over an hour before we had to tack up. I felt amazingly calm. One dodgy moment when he caught his rope on the lorry but he was so good, didn't panic while we unraveled him. I got dressed up like a dog's dinner, Pete was tacked up by my loyal helpers I had six people helping me! On I got. Into the warm up arena where a grand prix rider was warming up also! Pete was a star, we careered around in there a bit, not happy riding with other people but it was OK. Then it was our turn to go in. Off we went, had one spook at the judges box, then he was an angel. Not very forward and not really on the bridle but we didn't mess up. I actually enjoyed it! When we finished all my supporters cheered as if I had won the Olympics, so funny! They were amazing and it was a truly great experience. ;D ;D ;D. I forgot to say score was 54.58 and I will download more pics later.

Well done Sol!!! Delighted for you!!! 6 helpers??? Lucky you, did they all fall over each other trying to do up the girth, brush the mane, tie on your number, etc etc etc.... One thing with dressage, they didn't need to put on his boots!!! Must have been great getting the applause at the end though, 12 hands clapping thegether make quite a bit of noise!!! When is the next one?? AND where are the photos? PS 54.58 is excellent. I got 42.24 for my first one and only 47.28 for my second!!

Sol, I love to hear of your great adventures with Pete ;D Didn't you both do well!! I would love to perhaps one day get to do a little bit of dressage.
I like the sound of those remedy pastilles, I hadn't heard of them before - do you get them in a health shop?

Well done sounds like a great day! Your test must have been quite late on if you started plaiting at 9am and he stood for an hour?
Sounds like the perfect day - thats the way it should be, chilled and fun. How did you manage to rope 6 grooms in? ;D
That was a great score too - he will probs get even better scores the more dressage outings you do as he gets used to going out.

Briliant score especially for your first outing. did the judge make any nice comments? When is the next one? I am looking forward to seeing the photographs - with those 6 grooms, you really should have a video as well!!

I have got a vid! Yes lovely comment, judge said Pete was feeling the tension today, affected his rhythm and paces, well managed. I was over the moon. More pics to follow.

That is a good comment - I am sure he was feeling a bit tense but that is just going to go away as he gets more used to it- you were probably feeling somewhat tense yourself despite the pastilles. Obviously there is loads of potential here
