Our riding year is over (apart from the fete du club next week) - it is now too hot to do much. So P and I have been wandering slowly about the countryside early in the morning. It was so very beautiful today: the sky was sapphire blue, with three buzzards lazily riding the thermals overhead. I was mobbed by a flock of swifts - I thought one was going to hit me in the face! I came out of the woods into a clearing where I was hit by the scent of hot pines and then the sweet smell of wild thyme as P stepped through a carpet of it, as clouds of orange butterflies swirled around us. And the cicadas have started up - hot weather I am so grateful to have a lovely gent like Paco, who is perfectly happy to potter around, just the two of us. He's fittening up again as we go up and down the hills - I might have to try it myself! ;D

Sounds idyllic, Paco is a lovely boy, will do whatever you ask. It is just what we want. The mornings are a lovely time to be out riding.

Beautiful. I have been doing early mornings the last couple of days as even here is so hot at the moment. Can't beat being out before the rest of the world
