Had my second lesson with jumping trainer today. I had to confess to having a little confidence wobble in the last few days, no real reason I am just a wimp. Heather the instructor really helped me through this let me take lots of time warming up and generally reassuring me that Pete is doing nothing wrong. On to the jumping. Two tiny cross poles again but on the arc of a twenty metre circle. It was really hard. One rein much worse than the other, but by the end we were getting it. So inspiring when it goes right. Want to practice more now, booked another lesson for next week!

Thats brilliant! You sound like you have a good instructor, encouraging you but challenging you in small steps - excellent! It just goes to show that having lessons really does keep and boost your confidence and bring you on, doesnt it!

I think we all have confidence wobbles from time to time so well done for facing it and moving past it. Good instructors make such a lot of difference.
I haven't done any jumping lessons this year. I keep meaning to whilst I've been out of work again and have the time (therapy time again Duckles!) but I've ended up hacking with a friend instead. It's so much nicer when it's just the two of us rather than the larger Saturday group of reprobates.
I love hearing what you and Pete are up to and how things are going in lessons and the other things you both do. It's really inspiring.

Thanks Kitcat, I find everyones stories on here interesting and often inspiring. Find it helps me a lot to have all the fed back too. Everyone is so kind. Me and Pete are ordinary in so many ways but to me he is the world.

go Sol, you are far better off doing work over small jumps and getting it right than scaring yourself over big ones, anyway the height doesn't matter.
You go to any show/event these days the fences and courses are far more technical rather than big and scary, so if you can get the groundwork in over small ones, you will find it so much easier when you get out and about at competitions etc.
The pick a fence course I did a few weeks ago 75-80% of the jumps were skinnies and/or awkward angles so you had to be 100% accurate for those and thats where working over low jumps on thesekind of issues pays massive dividends in the long run.

Sounds great Soloman - I'm quite envious as I dont think I would be up to a jumping lesson at the moment although I have started canter poles and tiny x poles with JB and slightly bigger jumps with Cori. (Think I might try the x pole on the circle exercise - it sounds good. ) But I'm not good!! I am finding it so hard. I am begining to think I will never get back into it!! But like you I do enjoy reading everyone's adventures and get a lot of encouragement from their success. ANd Kitkat - time to return to therapy I think!!

Mine are just tiny cross poles, but it is so much fun, for me and Pete.
