Faith has a snotty nose and its coming from both nostrils. She's been coughing a bit lately (have soaked her hay) and she seems a little tired but livens up if asked (think she just tires herself out running around all day, and the tiredness isn't a recent thing i.e. hasn't appeared since the snotty nose has, so can't really be much of a symptom) and is eating and appears to be drinking ok. I'm just worried about her and wondered if there was anything I could do to help.
I've already started to soak her hay and she's been kept in today so she doesn't spread it to anyone else (intentionally), but is there anything else I can do?

sounds like a common cold to me? im not great at first aid stuff but i'd say you're doing as much as you can, good idea with soaking the hay, have you checked her temperature and breathing rate?
if she gets worse or appears more dull than usual, or if it lasts more than a week or so it could be a virus, so i'd keep an eye out for that but seeing as she livens up when asked i wouldnt think it was that at the minute? keep us posted xx

Sounds like a virus, check TPR and if abnormal isolate her and consult vet. Could be a low grade thing re the tiredness and been brewing for a bit, sometimes they can be fighting a virus for ages and the stmptoms appear just as they are getting rid of it so she may have had it for ages or it could be a simple chill as Abi says. brig

What colour is the discharge? If it's white and milky this suggests its an allergy, possibly to pollen

Well, its kind of white and slightly thick, although is lessening in volume and thinning daily.
As for pulse/breathing etc, I've had a go and she seems ok (well, nothing struck me as abnormal) but she's not drinking much ans seemed off about her hay...she eat her tea though and didn't refuse a carrot or two, so not too worried. I think if she's not looking any better in a few days then I'll give the vet a ring. Like you said Brig, she might just be showing symptoms now she's on the mend.
Thanks for the help though guys!
