The boys have been sooooo good this weekend. Did some schooling out on the open field with Trav on sat morn and he was fab. We had our first canters in open space and he was perfect
Took Fire on a hack too in the evening and he was brilliant, no spooking at grass or molehills Just one lil one at some pigeons, which was totally justified. Pigeons are every atm!
Today did some jumping with Fire, practising turns. Stringing a few jumps together. (at the RS we did a small course of 5 jumps on Thurs and I can't believe how rusty I was. So have made mental note to practise more. We were jumping things from directions we'd never tried before and Fire was really looking and thinking about what he was doing. I think he likes to be challenged. Although when we switched from poles to x's he was very naughty and spooked at a mole hill that had been hidden under the poles. He slowed up to nearly a halt, then cat leapt it and nearly catapaulted me out of the saddle in the process! charming....
This evening was a bit dubious and muggy, but I thought we'd be ok to go out on a hack with Trav. Soon as I got on we heard what we thought were planes but later decided was thunder! It started raining but only lightly, off we poodled down the track and he was being really good. Giving that it was looking super dubious I thought we'd better turn and go for home, then it really started to pee it down! Trav was a bit anxious, I think the bugs were bothering him too, he was being a bit jig jogy, so after he walked a few nice strides I asked him to stop and hopped off, and led him back. I thought if he was feeling tense and it made me tense it would probably spiral downhill. So rightly or wrongly thats what I did. I thought considering everything he was very good. And next time if I'm in doubt over the weather, We'll save it for another day!
Piccys and vids to follow ;D
