Finally managed to squeeze in a ride last night (life been mad to say the least last couple of weeks) and boy did I need it...I feel like a different person! Murph was a beast bucking before I was even properly aboard and we bucked, leapt, squealed, snorted and generally cavorted all the way up the lane Think he was glad to be out too as I think both have been feeling a bit neglected lately. (God I love that horse!) By the top he had settled for frog marching (to Harry's relief who was being an angel and watching our antics with disgust) his excess energy off along the edge of the common instead and by the time we reached the edge of the woods proper he was his usual self again. Only walked as they are out of condition but it was just bliss (after the mad 10 mins at the start). Everywhere is in full bloom and so lush (overgrown!) after this weeks rain and after chucking it down all day it even stopped for us just as we left the field.

Its fantastic isn't it. I haven't been onboard for ages and got on Brax for like 20mins and it was amazing and I gotta admit I haven't been as grouchy with people. They are great for the soul and for our sanity lol

its so good - I am so lucky that i have a horse to ride - would love to be able to hack him out alone though - some days you don't want to school, just chill and wander.

I agree Haffy, time after time I arrive at the yard frazzled from life and leave calm and restored. Especially in the summer. WHile I don't have orchards full of cherries (how lovely that sounds) the bird song, the long evenings, the smell of the hedge blossom plus the wonderful smell and sound of horse all make life very sweet.

Nothing beats it. Even just being at the yard watching them makes me feel complete.

Even if I can only spare 5 minutes, I go out to the paddock and I am swarmed but for those 5 minutes of stroking, hugging and getting hugged, breathing in each others scent, the nuzzling and the way they lick my hand.....I'm in heaven.

Its lovelwhn you get that isnt it, we have about 5 in the fields so you get surrounded by several nosey loving horses. ive been working late every night this week and topped with 3 full days training over weekend have been knackered. Rain has stopped any riding anyway but thurs pm i finally got on Frank for a lesson, i thought id be less tolerant of him as there was alot of work going on at yard and the horses were all het up but i wasnt, infact i really relaxed laughed and just got on with it and came off alot more relaxed. annax ;D
