Well it was the pick a fence xc today and Brave's 1st xc non training event. H was riding Chomps and was immediately after me (but finished in front... LOL). They both coped really well in the warm up arena and as it was really busy with people bombing everywhere I was really pleased.
As soon as Brave was called to the warm up arena he was really unhappy and nid the biggest nap ever to go back to Chomps, rearing spinning and I thought he was going to knock over a poor woman who happened to be walking past us.
Got him started OK and over the 1st fence, 2nd one was a brush which brave wasn't going over, when I gave him a smack he went into rapid reverse and reversed up a hill. it was the 3rd refusal so I decided to kick on and leave the fence as we were only there for experience. flew then next couple including our 1st ever corner.
Then down the hill to the steps which we stopped at and then scrambled up, over the next couple, with Brave shouting to Chompy all the time and Chompy shouting back. I knew Chomps was gaining on us when Brave started to basically canter on the spot and I could hear H behind me, H slowed down once we caught up and we finished the course as a pair with them giving us a lead over a couple of the scary fences, for which I was very grateful, with them in front I basically had no brakes and all I had to do was point him over the fence and low fly across the course.
Very please that we got around, and for a 1st time we did OK but the report card would read ' could do better'.
Needless to say H and Chomps did brilliantly, did all the 2'6" jumps while I was on the less than 2" course!
