Went for a long hack tonight with S. We saw a badger and some hares - never seen either alive in the wild before. Coming back there was a hawk of some sort flying low in front of us - unusual as they're usually hovering - it would land on a branch then swoop off again. And riding home we were on a loose rein with the sun setting behind us. Eddie looked as though she was made of polished copper. Bliss.

That's my favourite pastime - a gentle hack in lovely scenery, lots of wildlife ... make all right with the world, doesn't it?

Our ride last Friday was in the most beautiful countryside, saw a hare too! Very rare round here. I love riding my horse.
