I had a great lesson Thurs evening ;D I had started to find lessons a little stale, and felt I wasn't getting so much out of them. Thurs night though there was only three of us in the lesson and one of them was a helper who is an incredible rider. I had been riding the lil chestnut mare, shes very odd. Sometimes she jumps great and other times she backs off the fences from the word go, and if you give her an inch she'll grind to a halt. We've gone skidding through jumps twice this year. So its good for practising hanging on but not too much fun. On Thurs tho I was given a choice and chose 16hh TB whos quite lazy in walk and trot and a lively but a v. trustworthy jumper. Cos given we were riding with the helper I had a feelin the jumps would be big! and I wasn't wrong. Warmed up over x's, then low straights, 2ft 6" straights then jumped over 3ft ;D She then set up three smallish jumps between E and B in a line and we did the on a serpatine with tight turns. I said to my RI theres only one prob with Tb's and that is they don't have enough mane to hold on too! Fire and T are great lots and lots of mane available. For the last separtine we did I passed RI me whip and she said That there was mane hairs on it! whoops. Great lesson though He was such a good boy. I ached like anything the next day though. Can't wait till next week

Thats great FL!! Always a great feeling when you have a great lesson. Funny i am not sure some weeks are actually worth the money im paying as we dont seem to do much - i.e. just doing our own thing and then a bit of feedback Specially yesterday we went on a hack and RI stopped to talk for ages to people we met out and then we didnt get going till late either - we did have a few canters right enough but still, wasnt very impressed. Still, my confidence does seem to be improving. I guess thats the main thing. We did a jumping course last week which was good - we just practiced jumping after a short warm up. Im beginning to wonder though if it would be more beneficial to have private lessons less often but i do like the craic of riding in a group. Perhaps i should do one of the wee competitions or something... Some weeks are a bit slow and not doing much and others you are challenged.

It's great when you enjoy your lessons. You'll be having them with T soon no doubt. I'm gonna look for a jumping instructor soon to alternate with my dressage so we can have a bit of a blast.

Sounds like a great lesson FL. I always prefer a private or semi private lesson (just me & my sister).
