The boett blankets are supposed to be very good and don't laugh I knew someone who swore by marmite sandwiches!

benzyl benzoate was good for connie but all the dirt stuck in her tail. fly spray was sort of crap. i would get a really good rug - at least a fly rug with belly cover, long tail cover, and neck covering. You can get ones with holes for the ears which seem good or you could get a mask which id also recommend. boett does seem to be the best but think its quite expensive. i think the one with ear holes was rambo or something - horseware ireland do them i think. at least it would be one expense - as long as they dont make a habit of trashing rugs! - rather than lots of fly spray.

Covering up is the only way. None of the remedies work. They can help it heal but if you don't cover up it just gets worse. I tried everying and now always use a boett blanket. The results of the vaccination trials are encouraging but even that doesn't work well or even at all for some. It works out expensive, too.

There was something on HHO to do with Avon's Skin so Soft which apparently helped.

Avon's skin so soft is the only deterent to the notorious scottish midge, its even issues to the SAS when training in scotland (mental image of all these really hard men slapping on Skin so soft - tee hee)
