Well yesterday was the dreaded mini hunter trials. I was up at 5.30 - too nervous to sleep! Will cut a long day short but basically arrived at the venue at about 8.30. Mum parked the car in a quiet corner away from all the action so we had a quiet base to go to. we entered for the beginners (max 1ft 6) and novice (max 2ft) classes on the promise we could withdraw if she wasn't behaving.
Took her up to where the action was and she was pretty good. We had a few moments when it all got a bit too much so we just walked round til she calmed down again - that did the trick.
So after an hour or so we decided to do the Peter Pan clear round. The fences were piddly but it was about how she behaved. We knocked one down but she was brilliant and we still got a rosette for trying . More waiting around and finally it was time for our cross country round. After prancing round the collecting ring after all the kids using it as a warm up arena we were off. She was a superstar. I let her pick the pace and she trotted and cantered nicely the whole way. We jumped brushes, bales, through the woods even a trough filled with carrots! Down and up a really steep quarry and we were clear. It wasn;t a timed course so we could pootle at our own pace. So we got another rosette for completing that course clear.
By this point it was about 12.30 so we had some lunch and let Eddie chill and graze - so much lovely grass she was in her element. By 1.30 there were still 2 classes to go before the novice so I swapped it for a 2ft showjumping class as we would have been there all afternoon. We went back up to the action and Eddie was now an old hand and just stood dozing in the sun with the other horses. We were one of 5 out of 8 to jump clear in the first round. Then in the jump off she flew round brilliantly but we were the only ones unfortunate to knock one down, so we came 5th. But I was soooo pleased with her. We chilled at the car (more grass) for a little longer before heading off home, knackered but grinning from ear to ear.

The three x-country are professional ones which I bought yesterday. There will be more on the website when they've been put on.
Sooooo pleased with my gorgeous pony.
