In my lesson on Friday I fell off Ben... First time for years I have hit the deack... I have been dreading it, knew it had to happen and had a feeling Friday was the day... S had put up a cross bar bounce to a straight and then a atride to another straight bar on the left rein. Ben has a habit of running to the right and altough we did each element a few times S wasn't happy that we weren't going straight down the middle so he said "I want you to make him go over the last one in the centre this time." Well I tried to sort of "pull him" to the left and he went to the right as normal and so we parted company....OUCH!!!!! I landed on my back and squealed like an idiot even though I was winded. Eventually stood up and got back on. S took the third element away and so I just did the bounce a couple of times. Sore as hell yesterday although I did go a hack, but it meant I missed the Easter Fun ride round Houston House today, the thought of an hour of trot and canter was just tooooooooooooooooooo much... But I did jump again today, just a single straight bar though - couldn't cope with anything more.

((hugs BB)) I fell off in my lesson a few weeks back. Totally bent my neck and ended up having to go to the physio. Horse tripped over a bleedin pole on the ground and fell on his knees and i hit the deck.
Were you wearing a body protector?
Well done for getting back on and jumping again - big pat on the back. Really brave of you!

I know the feeling of apprehension so well! Brave you getting back on and jumping. How are your nerves now? And your aching bones!

Ouch! Its a devil when it happens and especially when you kind of know its going to at some point. The good thing is though that you didnt back off jumping, either before or after and you havent since, so all credit to you. How did Ben react when you came off, was he suprised?

It's always worse when you know its coming, but at least you got back on, it definately takes longer to get yourself together and back on than when we were kids...

Thanks Guys. Sol, I feel sorer and sorer to be honest, stuffing Arnica down me and Ibuprofen as well. Just stiff I suppose and as Fi says it takes time to get back together again. Brig, , Ben stood some distance away, and the look on his face was..."God you're cr*p...." He was fine when I got back on, I thought he might be a bit nervous but no. Flea no, the body protector was at home hanging outside the wardrobe... But one thing came out of this, - I fell off and survived. ;D I had been worried that at my advanced age I would really do a mischief so am relieved I can still ride and more importantly WALK.. ;D

Well done again for getting back on. I think it helps your confidence too if the horse is unfazed by it. I think it hurts more without a BP - it really knocks the wind out of you even more so.
