Have decided I am getting very sloppy about schooling and very much got into the having a chat enjoying the view sort of hack so I ahve decided at least once/twice a week when we go out we are actually working on some aspect for a good proportion of the time!
Traditional going round in circles doesn't work for me as I get bored and Murph thinks circles are a totally pointless waste of energy and switches off big time...we are as bad as each other I guess as I'm okay schooling harry, but with Murph I tend to start out with the attitude he's not going to co-opeate and I guess he probably does the same with me
Anyhow I digress...Over the weekend we decided we would work on transitions, mainly to 'sharpen' lazy murph up and get him listening a bit more. Just walk, trot and halt combinations but very positive, he was an angel and really co-operative. It was good for Harry too as he is quite ignorant and tends to think he knows best so doesn't always listen to the person on top and respond as quickly as he should...and he can't still for toffee, he is so impatient whereas It's Murph's favourite pace!
Anyhow thats the plan so hoefully I will (with a bit help) manage to stick with it.
On a final note a word of warning
If your doing halt to trot back to halt transitions it's always a good idea to let the person behind you know that is what you intend to do

but never mind - Faith is really good at halt-walk, walk-halt, walk-trot, trot-walk and trot-halt transitions now (the last is even better when there is a yummy patch of grass at the point I ask her to stop
