Went out on Pete tonight, through the woods, opportunity to canter came and instead of being scared when he leapt in the air like a lippizzaner I smiled and carried on safe in the knowledge that I CAN do this. Don't know where it came from, a month ago I would have shouted to long suffering friend to stop, but she called out are you ok? And I said yep, fine. Feels good. Off to Crufts dog show tomorrow, so not riding foll on Monday, we will be out again.

Yep, gag snaffle only on first ring although there is another one if things get worse, and a standing martingale, he doe chuck his head up in canter and the martingale really helps. All the rest of the time it is not in use. I had tried it as a running one and it made little difference.

The extra bit of equipment is really worth it if it lets us have fun safely doesnt it? ;D

I'm so happy for you Sol and possibly a little envious You are at the stage that I had hoped to get with Murphy. It must feel brilliant - well done!!

Well done Sol, sometimes riding through an 'incident' does tell us that its not the monster we imagine it to be!
